Thermal oxidation with regenerative heat recovery (RTO) for textile coating

Exhaust air volume flow  35.000 Nm³/h
Contaminant  Hydrocarbons and softeners, partially as aerosol
Raw gas loading
150 mg/m³ to 1.000 mg/m³

Posing the tasks

The European solvent directive and its implementation in the 31st BImSchV obligated the manufacturer of technical textiles (awning materials) to clean hydrocarbon-laden exhaust air, which escapes during the textile coating process.

Solution / Highlight

The 3-chamber RTO system, model ROXITHERM RTK, proved to be the most economical solution to the exhaust air problem for the exhaust air volumes and contaminant composition emitted in the production process.

Due to the limited local on-site conditions, only an installation on the hall roof could be considered. The compact design with a low specific total weight to the exhaust air volumes to be cleaned was a significant advantage for these installation specifications.

As the exhaust air contains softeners and aerosols, the system is outfitted with a "burn-out" function, which makes it possible to vaporise caked accumulations in the inlet area of the heat reservoir.

As organosilicon compounds can also be found in the exhaust air, which can lead to clogging in the combustion chamber due to SiO2, additional access openings are provided on the backside of the system to ease cleaning of the combustion chamber.
