Posing the tasks

For the production of primary aluminium, carbon anodes are required for the electrolysis process. These anodes are usually produced on the same site as the primary aluminium.

The production of Anodes is splitted in raw material handling / forming and baking. The raw material and forming step is performed in a so called Green Anode or paste plant. At the several steps of processing, VOCs, PAHs and tar/condensates are emitted, which have to be treated with a suitable fume treatment system.


Solution / Highlights

For the treatment of VOCs and PAHS the Regenerative Thermal Oxidiser (RTO) technology provides maximum destruction efficiencies at low running costs.
In order to cope with the heavy tar and condensate load of the exhaust gas, the ROXITHERM units are equipped with a modified valve system and a special "burn-out" mode, which allows an internal cleaning
LTB has installed 2 ROXITHERM RTK system in parallel to treat the exhaust air from the 2 production lines. Due to its compact design and low specific weight, the ROXITHERM units could be easily integrated into the steel structure of the production building.
